Open-Deck Dispatch Services

Open-deck freight lives outside — and so does everything that can go wrong with it: weather, wind, site access, and securement. Our open-deck dispatch plans around those realities instead of discovering them en route.

Operational focus

What open-deck dispatch requires

Open-deck equipment — flatbeds, step decks, conestogas, and related trailers — shares one constant: the freight is exposed. That makes preparation the core of the job. A tarp decision made at the shipper, a jobsite access question asked before dispatch, and a weather check for the route are the difference between a smooth load and a claim.

  • Weather reviewed for the route before freight is committed
  • Site access checked at pickup and delivery — jobsites, farms, and industrial yards are not docks
  • Securement and tarp decisions made with the driver, not for the driver
  • Loading method confirmed: dock, forklift, crane, or ramps
  • Freight description verified against the rate confirmation before the truck moves

We support open-deck freight within the equipment we genuinely dispatch. If a load requires capabilities outside that scope — specialized heavy haul, for example — we will say so rather than improvise.

The driver is part of planning

Securement is the driver's responsibility and expertise. We confirm requirements and give the driver what they need to plan — not instructions from a desk.

Weather is a routing input

Storms, wind, and road conditions change open-deck plans. We track forecasts and communicate options early.

Photos and documentation

Pre-load and post-securement photos are encouraged and organized — they protect you in disputes.

Common questions

Open-deck carriers ask us

What open-deck equipment do you dispatch?
Flatbeds, step decks, and related open-deck trailers within our supported capabilities. If you run specialized heavy-haul equipment, tell us — we will confirm honestly whether it is within our scope.
Who decides tarp or untarped?
The load requirements decide, confirmed with the shipper or broker before booking. The driver decides how to execute safely. Our role is to make sure the requirement is known and compensated before commitment.
How do you handle freight damage claims?
Documentation is the foundation: pre-load photos, signed BOLs with exceptions noted, and written communication. We help you keep that trail clean so disputes can be resolved on the facts. Claims handling itself is between you, the broker, and the insurers involved.

Suitability

Is your open-deck operation a fit?

Preferred criteria: at least 180 days of operating authority, open-deck equipment we support, and an operating or credibly planned operation. Business preferences — not legal requirements.
