Flatbed Dispatch Services

Flatbed freight is unforgiving with details: a dimension you missed, a tarp requirement you did not ask about, or a jobsite that cannot fit your trailer. Our flatbed dispatch treats every load as a planning exercise, not a phone call.

Operational focus

What flatbed dispatch requires

Flatbed loads carry questions dry van loads do not. Exact dimensions. Overhang. Securement counts. Tarp or untarped. Permits. Escorts. Loading method — dock, forklift, or crane. Each one is a chance for the load to go wrong, and each one is knowable in advance if someone asks.

  • Dimensions and weight confirmed in writing before commitment
  • Securement planning: straps, chains, binders, edge protection — counted and communicated
  • Tarp requirements clarified up front, including who supplies them
  • Oversize and overweight permits handled with attention to route validity
  • Pickup and delivery site constraints checked — jobsites are not docks

Flatbed carriers also know that loading takes time. A flatbed dispatcher schedules realistically — not like the trailer is a dry van that can be dropped and swapped.

Weight reality

Legal weight for your tractor-trailer combination, including the securement gear itself.

Weather awareness

High winds, storms, and open-deck freight are a combination we plan around, not through.

Escort and permit timing

Permit lead times and pilot car requirements flagged before you agree to a pickup time.

Common questions

Flatbed carriers ask us

Do you handle oversize and overweight loads?
We work with overweight and dimension loads within your equipment's legal capability, including permit coordination. Loads outside your — or our — comfort zone are declined, not fudged.
How do you account for tarping time in scheduling?
Tarping time is built into the trip plan. A flatbed load is not complete at the dock door — it is complete when the load is secured, tarped, and inspected. Scheduling that ignores this creates unsafe pressure.
What if the freight does not match the description?
Stop and report to us. Photos, written notes, and immediate communication with the broker protect your position. We will not pressure you to haul freight that does not match the commitment.

Suitability

Is your flatbed operation a fit?

Preferred criteria: at least 180 days of operating authority, flatbed or open-deck equipment, and an operating or credibly planned operation. Business preferences — not legal requirements.
